You won’t see me out during the day, since I prefer to eat at night. I’m specially equipped to eat ants and termites. My strong claws dig into their nests and then my long tongue scoops out the ones that are hiding. I can eat up to 200,000 ants and termites in a single day! I eat all kinds of other bugs and larvae as well, including flies, worms, bee larvae, earthworms and crickets.
I like to make my home in old trees, since they usually have enough hollows that are big enough for me to sleep in. I also climb bigger trees to rest and hunt for bugs that live higher up in the canopy. Sometimes I also dig burrows in the ground with my claws to make a bed for myself. You can find me in primary and secondary forests in Penang Island, Pasoh Forest Reserve, and Taman Negara National Park.
